Last Day of Arts Hub Residency as part of Renewable Newstead Project

In a community, Artists are to be cherished and  recognised  and their Art is meant to be seen by all. Thank you to all who came, chatted, welcomed me in their homes and studios. It has been an amazing experience to go country for the last month with many mixed feelings I will be leaving this place today but to return soon I am sure. During this residency,  I had the pleasure to teach art & sustainability workshops at the local primary school and a month-long exhibition at Newstead Arts Hub. This beautiful building a restored train station was the perfect exhibition gallery space to show my all white work made from everyday white plastic recyclables objects. I met many people and made some amazing friendships during my stay in Newstead a village with many talented artists that live and hide here so next time you pass by or even live here strike a conversation and ask to see their artwork.  Portraits series in the making during the Arts Hub residency Plastic Trap and

Newstead artist residency

Image
A beautiful day to paint in my studio at the old railway station... Jellyfish trio view from the platform Yesterday I had the pleasure to meet with a couple of local artists in Newstead. Horse (artist nickname) took me to meet Roger and his eclectic sculpture garden. His sculpture park is always in the process of making and remaking to see the possibilities at hand. His house with no running water or electricity is a testament to simple life and what little means  is needed to make some great art .

Bastille Day Festival 2017

Image
This year was a huge event in new premises at the old Melbourne Meat Market. The crowd that came (braving the cold) was amazing and the ambiance in this venue was magical. French food, design, travel combined with lectures and talks made it a special event for all. To add to this, pass the garden and in the stable was La Galerie 17, representing 5 French artists! I was thrilled to be able to present my work in this large warehouse and perfect as a gallery space. Tall ceilings and white walls with natural light coming through was the perfect combination to present art! with curator Heather Van Heerwaarden

Fashionable Trash

Image
An unusual idea came to me while away but always wanted to make. Also the material found were perfect for this project. Collecting, gathering and recording trash while walking the street of Sydney suburbs allowed me to create this work and of course as you will see this happen to look like fashion... squeezing the waistline looking at the tail of the dress  Now do you see what I see when I mention fashion albeit now fashionable trash in Pyrmont and that is where fashion came into my mind

I will be part of the panel for the VIVID Ideas 2017 discussion on  ART SCIENCE AND WONDER Tuesday 13th June 2017 at 6pm UTS Business School (building 8) ULTIMO NSW MICROBEPLASTICA artwork (details) Carolyn Cardinet What Does it Take? Science, Art, Wonder Can you see a future where artists, scientists and business work together to find creative solutions to big problems? It may exist in fragile ecosystems but how can it be sustained? Considering the innovations that Leonardo da Vinci was dreaming up more than 500 years ago, what conditions are required for great ideas to be drawn up for the 21st Century? Patronage was an important catalyst for the Renaissance. What is the role of business and universities in the 21 Century? How can we revision and resource the creative research ecosystem? Many of the speakers have dual or multi disciplinary backgrounds, artist and scientist, scientist and musician, scientist to artist, business science artist, are we all inherently tra

Carolyn Cardinet  Visual artist dedicates her work to the planet! by Valentine Sabouraud Le Courrier Australien 23 May 2017 – translation by me! 38 millions  plastic  pieces have  invade d  Henderson Island in the Pacific  Ocean . This piece of paradise is now the symbol  of the extreme pollution,  which is  felt in  o ur oceans as it is choking  fauna and destroying their ecosystem . We talk  about a 7 th  continent-in reality it is more like a  ‘ plastic  soup’  made of microplastic .  In response to this  Carolyn Cardinet  an artist  passio nate about this topic,  uses her activist work  to  recycle  the plastic she gleans essentially on the beach  close to home .  In her studio  are gathered , milk bottles, old lids and straws touch by the time spent in the ocean. Wonderful to be part of this Festival  with WORA again this year  I was privileged to be asked to put up my new work with an exhibition with 4 talented artists from Castlemaine. The Mill will be an exhibition space opposite the glorious Botanical Gardens. Plastic Waterways - installation at night  Surprised this morning to have the light streaming onto my work light and shadow adding a new dimension to this installation with a quick portrait just before we de-install  The work Plastic Waterways was a map of Victoria's waterways engraved and of the coast cut-out a project made and inspired from possum cloaks which were painted with aerial maps of the local tribe.  Creating awareness in plastic consumerism and plastic pollution is something I am passionate about in my art practice. Through my art practice, I have a visual language to contribute to the dialogue which is starting but only just starting to happen around the world. This work assembled 2 l mi

Artwork at the Westgarth Palace Cinemas

Westgarth Theatre Always nice to hear that passerby thought the works on display was  or reminded them of my artwork This installation was put together for the special event for the occasion of the projection of the French Film Festival documentary Tomorrow (Demain) a must see and a positive outlook on what people already have put to action around the globe... There is an inkling of hope on the horizon but we all need to do our bit. However small or large your contribution is, your gesture is going towards a positive impact on our future for this planet.   Choosing your best shots is always a difficult decision in the making or not! This was another great opportunity to put my work up in one of the still standing old  Melbourne icon venues
